The 15% covers the whole service: payment processing fees (similar to Stripe or Square), platform hosting, physical materials (printed QR codes, NFC tags) and dashboard access. No hidden cost, no subscription. You only pay when a tip is actually collected.
On the card terminal, the tip lands at the wrong moment: the customer is paying the bill, often facing the server, and feels put on the spot. CaptainTips comes after, once the experience is over: the customer tips calmly, because they want to. That’s what makes tips more frequent and more generous.
The customer scans the QR code with their phone camera (no app required) or taps their phone on the NFC tag. They land on a secure payment page, pick an amount and pay with Apple Pay, Google Pay or their card. The whole thing takes about 10 seconds.
You choose: tips can be paid out directly to your team members, or to the venue that then redistributes them. CaptainTips only takes its commission at the time of the transaction, and transfers are automatic at the frequency you set.
No. No monthly subscription, no long-term commitment, no fixed cost. If no tip is collected in a given month, you pay nothing. CaptainTips only earns when it brings you value.
