What we are asked most
Does it go through our accounts?
No. Tips do not go through your revenue: they go from your guest to your team, and CaptainTips takes its commission on the way. You get a monthly statement for your books.
How long before it is running?
48 hours with a temporary QR code you print yourself. Your custom formats arrive afterwards. Nothing to plug in, no work on your till.
Who owns the data?
You do. Private reviews, guest records and the answers to your questions never leave your back office. We resell nothing and show no advertising.
Why a commission?
It covers payment processing, hosting, your holders and the back office. No subscription on tipping, no commitment: if nothing is collected, you pay nothing. It goes down with the plan: 15% with no subscription, 12% on Starter, 9% on Premium.
How do the QR code and the NFC chip work?
The guest points their camera at the QR code, or holds their phone to the chip. They land on a secure payment page, pick an amount and pay with Apple Pay, Google Pay or a card. Ten seconds, no app.
Are digital tips tax-free in France?
Yes, under conditions: exempt from social contributions and income tax until 31 December 2028.
